As I see it, there are three key high-level tasks in empirical research
Building theory refers to constructing theory through various approaches, such as deduction from larger theories, synthesizing theories, ethnographic induction, or data analysis. Operationalizing theory refers to specifying the theory in terms of variables and cases. Testing theory refers to testing hypotheses derived from theory. |
