Ethnographic Decision Modeling Homework
This is a collaborative exercise to be carried out by
teams. The teams are (a) the female students in the class, and (b) the
male students in the class. Please note this is a more substantial
exercise than any of the previous ones.
Interview people in order to develop an decision model
for how people choose which stall to go into in the 4th floor bathrooms.
Make sure to elicit all the criteria and contextual contingencies. Then
develop a Gladwin-style decision model.
Then, using a new sample of at least 20 people,
administer a questionnaire to test your decision model. In this
questionnaire, you ask the person to think about the very last time they
used that bathroom (if the bathrooms in Gatton are all the same, then it
doesn't matter which one they used). Then ask all of the questions
pertaining to the criteria in your decision model.
Summarize the accuracy of your model numerically. Be
prepared to discuss the whole process from elicitation to testing in
class.
